Tallahassee, FL — The political committee backing Congressman Byron Donalds released a seven-figure statewide ad this weekend on television, streaming, and digital. It does not mention housing costs, insurance premiums, or utility bills.
Floridians pay the highest homeowners insurance premiums in the country. Republicans have controlled the Governor’s office and both chambers of the Legislature since 1999.
Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried released the following statement:
“With the primary days away, Byron Donalds is spending seven figures trying to change the subject. Right now, Floridians are choosing between rent and groceries. People born in this state are being priced out of it. Not one second of that ad speaks to them.
This is what Republicans do when they can’t defend their record: They hand you somebody else to blame. Donalds can’t run from his party’s record. Republicans have run this state for decades, and Donalds himself chaired the Insurance and Banking Subcommittee in the Florida House while housing and insurance costs skyrocketed.
Florida Democrats will spend every day between now and November focusing on what it costs to live here, and who’s been in charge while it got this bad.”
